Ph-1 of Aravali zoo safari park to be developed in 2 years: Khattar
The state government will finalise in a week the company that will develop the 10,000-acre zoo safari park in the Aravalis between Gurgaon and Nuh, and the first phase will be completed in two years, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Wednesday.
“The safari will be developed in three phases. We are aiming to complete the first phase in two years,” Khattar said after reviewing the proposal for the project in Delhi.
The CM said two companies with international experience in design and operation of such facilities have been shortlisted. “Today, a presentation was given by a company regarding the park. A project management consultant will be selected soon,” he said.
Last year, the Haryana government had selected two companies — Tagbin and Aegis — after an expression of interest was floated. Officials said on Wednesday that the tender evaluation committee has given its suggestion on a decision between the two firms to the government for approval.
“Now, a proposal has been sent to the director general of supplies and disposal for holding a meeting of the High-Power Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) for finalisation of tender. This meeting will be held within the next seven days,” Haryana principal secretary (archaeology and museums) MD Sinha told TOI.
Currently, the Sharjah Park in UAE’s Al Dhaid is the largest such zoo-safari. The park is spread over around 2,000 acres and houses 120 species of animals.
“It will be the most unique animal safari facility in the world. It will help in conservation and boost ecology… It will be a controlled environment, but the animals will get their own habitat,” the chief secretary said.
Asked when the park is expected to open for the public, Sinha said it was yet to be decided. “First, the design of the park will be awarded, and then other decisions will be planned. Every year, a portion of the park is likely to be open,” he said.
