DTCP survey to check illegal construction in licensed colonies

Gurgaon: With two more district town planners posted in the city on deputation, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has decided to crack down on unauthorised construction and illegal commercial activities in licensed colonies.

Till now, the department has been facing difficulties in checking violations in licensed colonies as the officials were occupied with demolition drives against illegal colonies.

During the survey, the department will identify illegal construction by property owners after procuring occupation certificates, misuse of stilt parking area and misuse of residential buildings for commercial purposes.
District town planner (enforcement) Manish Yadav said, “We have constituted three teams to conduct survey of illegal commercial activities and under-construction buildings in all the residential colonies of the city.”

“After the survey is done, the department will issue show cause notices and restoration orders to all such property owners. Sealing, cancellation of occupation certificates will be recommended for non- compliance of restoration order and demolition action will also be taken if needed” said Yadav.

Director general of DTCP, TL Satyaprakash, has issued strict orders to curb illegal commercial activities going on in residential houses, Yadav added.

Stating that they are already in the process of identifying commercial activities going on in some licensed colonies, Yadav added, “Instructions have been given to the staff to prepare a comprehensive report from office records regarding commercial activities.”

In cases where notice and restore orders have been made, sealing action will be taken after issuing a final notice. Apart from this, letters will also be written to the police to register an FIR against such property owners.
